William C. Sawyer II, Ph.D.
Prior to forming Sawyer & Company, Incorporated on February 1, 1986, Bill served as a portfolio manager with Brown Brothers Harriman & Co. (BBH), for over fifteen years. Bill spent the first nine of those years with BBH’s Wall Street office, serving as portfolio manager to individuals, trusts, pension funds, profit sharing funds, endowments and foundations. Although client relationships are always confidential, it is a matter of public record that Bill managed the pension funds of Seagram Company, Ltd., Tampa Electric Co., and Deloitte Haskins & Sells. The following six years were spent in the Boston office of BBH, where Bill managed a similar variety of portfolios. Bill was most recently a Manager in the Investment Advisory Department of BBH, Boston. Prior to joining BBH, Bill was a portfolio manager with Bayrock Advisors, a portfolio management subsidiary of Bache & Co.Bill holds a B.A. degree from Williams College, an M.B.A. degree from the Wharton School of Finance and Commerce (University of Pennsylvania) with a major in Finance, a Ph.D. degree from the New York University Graduate School of Business with a major in Finance and Economics, and an M.A. degree from Boston College with a major in Spirituality and Ministry.
Bill has taught courses in Finance and Economics to undergraduates and M.B.A. candidates at Suffolk University School of Management.
Bill completed a M.A. in spirituality and ministry at Boston College in 1999. Bill has led workshops on spiritual growth at the parish level, at the Franciscan Center in Andover, MA, and at the state prison in Framingham, MA.
